8/7/24 – This is an excellent condition 1942 production Luger holster made from desirable pigskin leather. The Germans resorted to using pigskin later during WW2 due to lack of leather (supplies in general were running low). The pigskin leather leaves telltale pock marks in the leather, as shown in this example. Close inspection reveals that the belt loops and closure strap are not pigskin, but standard cowhide leather (which is correct). This holster features clean leather with normal pliability and normal evidence of use and aging without any excessive wear or damage. There’s light surface scuffs near the toe on top corners of the lid. Minimal wrinkling on the closure strap. The back leather is clearly marked with a maker stamp “DLU”, date stamp “1942”, waffen eagle military proof stamp “WaA641”, and model designation stamp “P.08”. Some witness marks from having previously held a Luger, but overall the interior leather is excellent and well preserved. Clean pigskin leather on the tool pouch as well. Beautiful, tight and all original straw colored stitching throughout. Pigskin holsters are often found repaired and heavily worn / used, which makes this a top-end collector example.
