7/12/23 – This is an excellent example of an Erfurt Ortgies Pistol manufactured in the 1920’s and chambered in 7.65mm. This one is all matching, has the proper “Crown N” proofs, and has a “Germany” export marking on the underside of the frame. There is also a “BS” marking on the left side of the slide. There is a lot of debate in the collector community about its significance, but the true meaning is unknown. Our best guess is “Bahnschutz” or railway police, but no one can say for sure. In any case, it has retained roughly 70% of its finish. There is thinning and splotchy discoloration on the whole slide, which appears to have been touched up with cold-blue. Fitted with very nice wood grips. Very nice bore with great rifling.
