4/1/22 – This is a late WW2 production Mauser K98. The rifle features late war features and an attractive blonde stock. The receiver is BYF 45 stamped, and numbered 42888. The bolt assembly is matching numbered “2888” and has a desirable phosphate finish on parts of the bolt assembly, as shown. Unfortunately, the stock is not matching numbered to the gun (mis-matched internally, and an unmarked hand guard). The wood is excellent throughout however with a waffen proof stamp on the right side of the buttstock. The front barrel band is also mis-matched (4388) but at least has the last two digits correct. Various other small parts are waffen eagle 135 or BYF proof stamped, which is correct for these last-ditch examples. The bore rates 7.5/10 with strong rifling throughout and normal patina / signs of aging within the grooves. Also comes with a reproduction leather K98 sling.
