7/2/24 – This is an early Eickhorn production German boot knife. The knife is marked on the ricasso with a faint double squirrel logo. The blade has a few light spots of surface oxidation and natural patina. Visible cross graining and great overall condition with a clean edge that has minimal scratches. The leather stopper is original and still attached, but is a broken loop (shown in 2nd to last photo). The hand guard and pommel are in great shape with mild patina. The grips show light use and handling wear, and one panel has a few mild traces of glue or some sort of adhesive where an emblem was likely once affixed by a previous owner. This was likely a “customization” similar to the one found on the scabbard; a Hitler Youth emblem. This emblem is original, but worn and discolored as shown. The leather frog is original but the secure strap is broken. A cool piece of history that was likely a Hitler Youth’s prized possession, gifted or inherited during the start of WW2.
