4/25/23 – This is an original WW2 German Army Eickhorn dagger. The dagger is complete with an original scabbard, hanger, and portepee. The dagger blade is in very good condition with mild surface patina throughout. There’s very light speckling patina with some darker patina mostly near the tip of the blade. Cross-graining is original and visible throughout the blade as well, with an Eickhorn maker marking on one side. The edges are unsharpened and in great condition. The hand guard has some traces of original finish still intact, with typical surface patina and high edge wear. The orange handle has one hairline crack near the pommel, which is in great overall condition. The silver portepee has an excellent chord and some very mild surface wear near the base of the knot, but the knot is tight. The scabbard has traces of original finish but mostly displays typical surface patina throughout. There’s one very small dent in the side of the scabbard that doesn’t affect functionality. The hanger is original, although slightly fraying throughout the silver threading, and there’s scuffing on the dark green velvet underside. The hanger clips and belt hook are all “D.R.G.M.” stamped.
