1/10/23 – This is a very nice example of a very early Walther PP sold in the commercial market during the first year of production, 1929. It is all matching, “Crown N” proofed, and has the proper early features, such as 90 degree safety, extended barrel, and “upside-down” serial number on the frame. It has retained somewhere between 85-90% of its original high polish finish. There is thinning and spotty oxidation on both grip straps, but the most obvious signs of wear are areas of splotchy discoloration on both sides of the slide. There are also a few areas of minor pitting here and there along the slide. Fitted with set of period-correct weighted grips, but there is a crack along the edge of the left panel from expansion and contraction of the bakelite. Comes with a wartime magazine that has a proper early flat-side finger extension. The bore is shiny with strong rifling, but there is some light freckling here and there. Painted sights.
