9/19/22 – This is a fairly scarce and early military Colt 1911 that was issued to the U.S. military in early 1913. The original blue rates at about 50-60% with notable bluing loss on the straps, all along the top of the slide, and more on either side of the muzzle. Correct early slide with 1911 patent date. Both frame and slide have a couple of minor dings on them. There are some dings on and around the rear sight. It’s possible someone tried to remove it or adjust its positioning, but this is the correct early rear sight for this year. Right side frame has three initials “PPL” lightly scratched in above the trigger guard. Rare, early barrel with horizontal ‘H’ on the hood. The grip safety is in slightly better condition than the grip straps. Excellent bore with strong rifling. It does appear the recoil link is replaced. The grips have some scratches and handling wear but no cracks.
