9/19/23 – This is a very nice example of a BYF 44 Mauser P.38 issued to the Nazi military in 1944. All matching with the proper “Waffen 135” military acceptance proofs throughout. The frame and slide have a phosphate finish and the barrel is blued, giving the gun its iconic dual-tone finish. The finish on these can be difficult to rate, but we would estimate it has retained somewhere between 85-90%. There is wear around the muzzle, wear on the high edges in general, and some thinning on the front strap. Fitted with very nice period-correct black plastic grips. The bore has great rifling, but there is freckling throughout. De-cocker is functional. It comes as a rig with a very nice 1944-dated pebble grain holster and two “Waffen 135” marked Mauser magazines.
