3/15/23 – This is an original DLV (Deutscher Luftsportverband Fliegermesser) “Air Sports Association” dagger with an original scabbard and leather belt hanger. The dagger is in excellent overall condition with a beautiful blade made by Gebr. Heller Marienthal. The blade is clean and shows cross-graining throughout. There’s some mild scabbard rub wear and spotty surface oxidation mostly found near the tip of the blade. The leather stopper is still present and excellent, but we doubt this is the original leather stopper (too thick). The fittings are non-magnetic nickel-silver and show mild surface patina but no rust or pitting. The handle has excellent blue wrapped leather finish throughout. The scabbard also has nickel-silver plating but is magnetic due to the steel core. Again there’s mild surface patina / tarnish but no major issues, and excellent blue wrapped leather midsection. The hanger is in great shape with no markings or stamps.
