9/5/24 – This is an original, early WW2 production DLV Flier’s knife. The knife comes with an original scabbard and leather belt hanger. The knife blade is in excellent condition with beautiful cross-graining visible throughout, and a maker marking on one side by SMF. There’s very light scabbard rub wear but almost no surface oxidation or speckling patina. The leather stopper is intact and in great condition. Partially covered by the leather buffer (stopper) on the underside of the lower cross guard is the number “317”. Normal patina and light surface wear throughout the pommel and hand guard, which are constructed of a non-magnetic nickel-silver. The stretched blue leather on the handle is crisp and excellent. Similarly, the blue leather body of the scabbard is clean and excellent with visible pebble-grained pattern. Properly stamped at the mouth of the scabbard with a DLV insignia. Some light surface wear and mild blemishes on the nickel-silver mouth and toe of the scabbard. Attached to the scabbard is an original leather hanger which bears a faint proof stamp.
