2/16/23 – This is an original WW1 era production Deluxe German Hunting Association Cutlass. The cutlass comes with the original scabbard. The cutlass blade measures approximately 13 inches and is in excellent condition. There are two hunting scenes engraved, one on each side, and the spine is etched as well with a leaf motif pattern. The spine is also engraved with the words “W. MICHOVIUS COTTBUS”. This name is a known Prussian supplier for forestry daggers. The engraving is crisp and beautiful, and the blade has very minimal surface discoloration on both sides of the blade, being more noticeable near the tip and base of the blade, but this is very minor and the engraved parts of the blade are clean and in excellent condition. This style engraving is a recognizable genuine Eickhorn style. The clamshell hand guard has typical surface patina and normal signs of aging. Similar wear is found on the acorns and the ivory handle, but they’re in overall great condition with no chips. However, the top acorn on one side of the grips is slightly loose. The original green buffer pad is in excellent condition. The original scabbard with brass fittings is in great shape with mild aging and surface patina but no major issues.
