6/1/22 – This is a nice example of a Colt Model 1917 Revolver issued to the US military in 1918. It is all matching, “United States Property” marked on the underside of the barrel, and has the proper “Eagle Head S19” military acceptance proof on the left side of the frame. It comes as a rig with a 1917-dated holster. There is noticeable cracking in the leather on the belt loop. The gun itself has retained roughly 75% of its bluing. The most significant finish loss is on the grip straps, along the barrel, and on the top strap. Light roll mark on the cylinder. There are areas of oxidation and tiny pits along the barrel, on the top strap, and on the right side of the frame. The grips are hand-numbered but not matching. There is a chip in the left panel and bruising along the bottom edges. Lanyard ring is intact. The cylinder is tight, and the action is smooth. Very nice bore with good rifling.
