6/14/23 – This is a nice example of a Colt Model 1901 issued to the US military in 1901. It is all matching and has the proper “RAC” inspector initials on the frame, cylinder, barrel, and bottom edges of the grips. It has retained roughly 85% of its original high polish finish. Areas of wear around the muzzle, on the top strap, and on the high edges of the cylinder. Some thinning and brown patina on the grip straps. Areas of light freckling here and there. Really nice fire-bluing on the trigger. Fitted with nice period-correct wood grips – minor bruising on the left side. Mint bore. The cylinder is tight, and the action is smooth. There is a screw missing from the front strap.
