5/19/23 – This is a nice example of a rare Colt Model 1889 revolver issued to the US Navy in 1889. It is matching and has a faint military acceptance stamp on the left grip panel, dated 1896. Small star marking on the left side of the frame. The gun has retained roughly 60% of its original finish. There is spotty wear and light spotty oxidation throughout. Areas of more noticeable thinning on the grip straps, top strap, and on the right side of the frame (where there is also brown patina). The grips are hand-numbered on the inside and are not matching. Small hairline crack on the bottom edge of the left panel. The bore has good rifling, but there is frosting throughout and some small areas of tiny pitting here and there.
