6/15/24 – This is an original 1868 production Chassepot M1866 Sword Rifle Bayonet. The bayonet is in very good overall condition and comes with an original scabbard (non-matching). The bayonet blade is in great shape with natural surface oxidation and light patina throughout. The edge is fairly clean and unsharpened, with a few small nicks and dings from use. The spine of the blade indicates this was made by Chatellerault arsenal. Great condition hooked quillion and brass handle. Functional release button. The scabbard has natural patina throughout and is well marked, as shown. No dents or major issues.
