2/23/22 – This is a very cool and rare Enfield No.4 Mk 1(T) sniper rifle with British-issued binoculars and telescope! These rifles were the standard British sniper rifles developed in the late 1930s and used until the early 1960s. The receiver side wall is marked “No. 4 Mk I T”, and the butt socket is marked “M47C/1944/M38517/TR”. The rifle is matching numbers throughout, and was originally telescope ready as it has the serial of the original scope on the wrist. The scope mounts appear original but the scope itself is a postwar reproduction with crystal clear optics. It is fitted with its original, correct wartime smooth semi-pistol grip stock with the standard proof marks, matching serial number on the forestock and correctly stamped “S51” on behind the pistol grip area. The buttstock is fitted with a wartime pot metal buttplate with butt trap compartment and the correct screw-on cheekpiece. Also included with the listing is a set of English binoculars made by Taylor-Hobson in 1941. They’re serialized and marked as ‘No.2.Mk.II x6’ binoculars, and the optics are clear. They also come in an original canvas carry case that is 1942 dated. Lastly, an original British MK.II.S telescope is included, along with carry case. The optics don’t currently seem to be working correctly but possible some tinkering could fix that. Carry case may be original but we can’t say confidently either way.
