3/15/23 – This is an original, early variation US M3 Fighting Knife with a leather M6 scabbard. The knife is maker marked and dated on the blade which is the first variation made by Utica during WW2. The blade shows heavy use and honest wear as there’s no finish left, signs of sharpening, and a few small nicks along the edge. There’s light surface scratches and oxidation throughout as well. The crossguard has mild play or wiggle on the handle, and the handle has a few imperfections in the leather, but is still tight and intact. The pommel is ordnance stamped. The scabbard has some cracking and a break near the top of the frog, but is all original and in good condition with a Milsco maker and 1943 date. A cool piece of US history that definitely saw action through the war.
