4/2/19 – This is a magnificent Mauser Oberndorf Type B sporting rifle, made in 1916-1920, chambered in very potent 9mm caliber. It remains in its original, unmodified condition with nearly all of it pre-war rust bluing still there – about 97-98%. The gun is a very desirable Type B sporter, and has NOT been tapped and drilled for optics. It is all matching with sharp cartouches and matching serial numbers on the barrel shank, receiver and bolt. The stock is in great condition with no cracks or pieces missing, still has original finish on it and is marked “Made in Germany” – most likely for export to Britain or US after WWI ended. Considered by many the best hunting rifle ever made, Type B Mausers became a favorite of the African safari hunters over the years and have attained nothing short of legendary status. This listing also comes with a box of 20 rounds of 9×57 Mauser ammo (250 grain soft point).
