2/23/22 – This is a beautiful example of a GI-mismatched Walther P.38 put together at the end of the war in 1945. The gun is mismatched, has only one “Eagle 359” military acceptance proof on the right side of the slide, and is in the correct serial range for this variation. It was put together by a US GI when the Walther factory was liberated in 1945. The barrel and locking block were never numbered. Some of the small parts have an end-of-war phosphate finish (correct for this variation). The gun has retained about 99% of its original finish. There are just some light scratches on the right side of the slide. While there is very little actual finish loss, there are minor casting flaws and some spotty discoloration on the front strap – typical of rushed late-war manufacturing. It comes with black bakelite grips (the left panel is slightly shaved) and a period-correct Walther magazine. The bore is mint. De-cocker is functional.
