5/19/22 – This is a beautiful example of a Colt Model 1911A1 issued to the US military in 1944. It is “United States Property” marked, has the proper military cross-cannon cartouche, and has a “GHD” inspection marking. It comes as a rig with a scarce 1944-dated leather shoulder holster and a period-correct “S” marked magazine. It has a proper Colt barrel that is marked “Hege” and has a West German Eagle proof. This indicates the barrel was exported by Hege in West Germany. There are no other export markings on the gun, so the barrel is likely just a replacement. The gun itself is in mint condition with hints of wear around the muzzle and one tiny handling mark on the top of the slide. Comes with minty plastic grips. The bore has strong rifling, but there is pin-pricking throughout.
