3/7/23 – This is a rare variation Bavarian prototype holster made by Eugen Huber for the AWM in 1915. These holsters were made for use of an Artillery Luger without a shoulder stock. As shown, The holster is designed to hold a tool and cleaning rod with interior leather pouches, and has two exterior magazine pouches for spare magazines (instead of the dual-mag pouches often found with artillery rigs). The holster was fabricated from heavily-grained front leather and smooth back leather. The front leather is soft and pliable but the back leather is slightly more rigid. The back leather shows that the holster was converted from an artillery holster with removed and added belt loops (as indicated by the extra stitching holes). There’s an AWM ’15 stamp, and Eugen Huber maker stamp on the back leather. The interior leather is fairly clean and shows light signs of use. The stitching is all original and intact, although there are two different types of stitching used, likely again because of this being derived and converted from an Artillery holster. Includes an unmarked, DWM style Luger tool as shown. Also included is an excerpt from Geoffrey Sturgess’ book, “The Borchardt Luger: Volume 3”, where this exact holster is mentioned and photographed.
