6/10/22 – This is a nice example of an Arisaka Type 99 issued to the Japanese military during WW2. This one comes with a matching-numbered dust cover, an original monopod, and a period-correct leather sling. The gun is almost entirely matching, except for the cocking knob on the bolt, which has been replaced. It is in nice condition overall, but we believe the gun has been refinished. In any case, there is light brown patina and minor splotchy discoloration on most of the metal parts. There is some pin-pricking on the barrel and bolt release lever and areas of minor pitting on the receiver where the wood meets the metal. Heavy oxidation and some rust on the butt plate. The stock has dings and scratches here and there, but there is no major damage. The butt plate and wood do not match up perfectly, to it’s possible the stock was sanded. Minty bore.
