2/6/24 – This is an excellent example of an Arisaka Type 99 rifle issued to the Japanese military during WW2. It is all matching and comes with a period-correct but mismatched dust cover. This one has a “Concentric Circle Mum” stamp on the receiver. There is a lot of debate in the collector community as to the meaning of this particular marking, but it is generally believed that they are “school rifles” used for training. There are faint remnants of what looks like a traditional mum flower under it. The finish on the metal parts rates about 97% with very little sign of wear. The wood has no major damage and shows below-average signs of wear and use. Mint bore.
