5/10/23 – This is an Arisaka Type 38 Carbine issued to the Japanese military during WW2. It comes with an original bayonet with scabbard (not matching) and an original dust cover (also not matching). These items come in an original wood shipping crate, shipped home from the Pacific Theatre by an American GI, John Barr, to his mother in Elizabethtown, PA. The bolt is mismatched, and the Imperial mum stamp on the receiver has been defacing – still mostly visible. The metal parts on the gun have retained roughly 75% with the majority of the finish loss being on the floor plate / trigger guard and around the front barrel band. Excellent wood stock with minor dings and bruises – may have been lightly sanded. Excellent bore.
