7/5/22 – This is a stunning, factory engraved Colt Single Action Army revolver from 1979. This is a 3rd gen example and it remains in what appears to be the factory original box, as the Styrofoam insert is fitted for the spare cylinder and this is a custom order spec rather than a standard design to these inserts. The box labels do not show a serial number though. The Colt archives state this revolver was factory engraved with “A” level standard engraving. It was ordered to have a spare engraved cylinder, and shipped to D.E.L. Supply in Massachusetts. While the serial dates to 1979, the shipment following engraving was in 1985. The gun appears to be in unfired, like-new condition with no turn line on the cylinder. Gorgeous case hardening on the frame, and smooth rosewood grips with Colt custom shop medallion embedded. The revolver has a 4.75in barrel with unfired bore. The majority of engraved 3rd gen SAA’s have a 7.5in barrel, so this barrel length is harder to find with engraving. The box comes with the manual/basic Colt paperwork, and the archive letter. FFL required.
