6/21/23 – This is a minty example of a Colt 1911 made in 1967 to commemorate the Meuse-Argonne Offensive in WW1. No finish loss at all, just a few very minor dings on the front strap. Both sides of the slide were roll stamped to commemorate the WWI Battles at Meuse and the Argonne forest. The left side of the slide has a gold flashed, roll engraved battle scene. There is a gold flashed Rampant Colt at the rear of slide. The right side of the slide has a large gold flashed, roll engraved banner which reads, “1917 WORLD WAR I COMMEMORATIVE 1967” over the Colt patent and address markings. It is fitted with a set of high polish smooth walnut grips, each fitted with a large bronze medallion. The left grip has the spread wing American Eagle, with “1917-1918” at the top and “WORLD WAR” below, with a smaller rectangular medallion underneath which reads ” MEUSE ARGONNE”. The right grip also has a bronze medallion with a soldier at “Port-Arms” position depicted in the middle, with the names of thirteen of the countries involved in WWI. Complete with commemorative wooden display case with plexiglass face. C&R eligible.
