8/15/23 – This is an original WW2 production Luftwaffe dagger by SMF. The dagger is a 2nd model, wartime production with a maker marked blade that’s also Luftwaffe proof stamped. The Luftwaffe proof is located just above the maker marking, and looks like it’s a faint double-struck stamp. The markings are still clearly visible, as shown. The blade has some mild spotty discoloration throughout, and a few small spots of pin-pricking or beginning signs of pitting. These aren’t rough to the touch, however. The edges are unsharpened and in great shape. An original leather stopper is still intact. The cross guard and pommel are aluminum was surface patina and typical edge wear throughout. The orange bakelite handle has a few mild imperfections but no cracks or chips, and a tightly wound chord. Comes with an original scabbard that’s in great overall condition.
