7/14/22 – This is the most uncommon variation of the German G43(K43) rifle, made in the final months of the war, around February-March of 1945. It was made at the Berliner Lubecker factory, which was assigned a ‘qve’ code in 1945 instead of the previous ‘bcd’ code. With a total of about 60,000 rifles made, this variation is one of the least encountered by the collectors and exhibits the late war rough machining and bluing. This is a very nice example in sniper rifle configuration with a postwar scope. The rifle has all matching numbers, including receiver, bolt and stock. The stock does appear to have been lightly sanded at some point though, and unfortunately appears a previous owner attempted to reapply the waffenamts on the stock. The scope mount is also a postwar Czech example. The finish on the metal is very good overall with most of the wear on the trigger group and front band. Handguard is a late war example made of a dark red/brown phenolic resin that is like a plastic. Scope optics are excellent. The magazine is also K43 marked with ‘aye’ maker mark.
