3/8/23 – This is a nice example of a Springfield M1 Garand. The receiver dates to early 1944. The barrel is SA marked and dated 1949. The end of the barrel has an “NM” National Match marking. The stock is un-marked and is a replacement. The colors of the handguards and stock are all different. The metal parts appear to have been arsenal-refurbished. There is very little actual finish loss, but there is light freckling and areas of pitting under the finish, especially on the receiver. The op rod appears to have a black painted finish. The wood stock is nice overall, but there is noticeable bruising and scratching on the handguards. The bore is shiny with strong rifling, but there are areas of pin-pricking here and there.
