1/17/23 – This is a very nice example of a Springfield M1 Garand issued to the US military in 1944. The receiver dates to about October of 1944. The barrel is Springfield marked and dated July of 1944. There is a faint cross-canon cartouche and inspection stamp on the left side of the stock. The “P” stamp on the wrist was reapplied. There is also what looks like a “67” rack number on the upper handguard. The entire gun has been arsenal refurbished. There is not much actual finish loss except for some wear around the muzzle. There is some light oxidation and minor pitting on the floor plate. Some areas of minor pitting under the finish on the receiver. There is no major damage to the wood, but there are small dings and bruises throughout. Minty bore. Muzzle reading: 2. Throat reading: 1.
