12/8/21 – This is a very nice example of a Spreewerk P.38 issued to the Nazi military in July of 1944. It is all matching and has the proper “Eagle 88” Nazi military acceptance proofs throughout. There is an asterisk marking on the left side of the frame, indicating it failed initial inspection and was sent back to the factory for repair. It has retained about 94-95% of its finish. There is minor wear on the high edges of the slide and around the muzzle. While there is not much actual finish loss, there are areas of spotty discoloration, patina, and some very pitting along the top of the slide and barrel. There is brown patina on the front strap and right side of the slide. Comes with nice black bakelite grips (the left panel has been cut down, right panel has a few dings and scratches) and a period-correct Spreewerk magazine. The bore is near-mint – shiny with strong rifling. De-cocker is functional.
