12/19/22 – This is a nice example of a BYF 44 Mauser P.38 issued to the Nazi police force in 1944. It is all matching, has the proper “Waffen 135” military proofs, and has a police “Eagle L” marking on the right side of the slide. There is an “asterisk” marking on the barrel, indicating it was sent back for factory repair. There is a “Russian Capture X” on the left side of the slide, and the entire gun has been re-blued. There is very little actual finish loss – just some hints of wear on some of the high edges and some areas of very minor thinning on the barrel, along the right side of the slide, and on the front strap. Fitted with black plastic grips – there are dings on both sides, and the tops are shaved. The fit does not match up perfectly along the spine. Comes with an un-marked magazine. Minty bore. De-cocker is functional.
