9/14/22 – This is a nice example of a BYF 44 Mauser P.38 issued to the Nazi military in 1944. The gun is all matching and has the proper “Waffen 135” military acceptance proofs throughout. This one is a Russian capture, as evidenced by the “Russian X” on the left side of the slide and dark “Russian dipped” finish. There is very little actual finish loss, just some minor thinning on the front strap. There are also some areas of minor pitting under the finish, mostly on the left side of the slide and frame. Comes with nice period-correct reddish grips and a post-war magazine. The bore is shiny with strong rifling, but there is very light freckling throughout. De-cocker is functional.
