8/18/22 – This is an original K98 bayonet with a matching numbered scabbard. The bayonet blade is maker stamped “44 cul” on one side of the ricasso, and is serial numbered on the other. The blade has no signs of sharpening and most of the original blued finish intact. There is however, some dark discoloration and finish loss on both sides of the blade as shown. The hand guard, pommel, and scabbard all have a dark olive green paint over the metal. Most of this is mixed with dark patina and surface aging. This is likely the “field” paint. There are no notable dents on the scabbard. Comes with a 1942 dated leather frog.
