4/17/24 – This is a rare variation, late WW2 production P.38 holster. The holster is rare due to the hard shell style which was for the most part discontinued by the Germans in 1943 as manufacturers went to soft shell style to increase efficiency and reduce the amount of materials used. This example is also rare / desirable because of the maker stamp and RBNr. distributor code stamped on the back leather. The RBNR. system was used at the end of the war as the Germans tried a new method for managing their supply chain. Most examples found today with a “RBNR.” lack a maker stamp, but this holster has a faint “bmo” maker code next to the RBNr. stamp on the back leather. The back leather is also P.38 stamped, 1944 dated, and stamped with a waffen military eagle proof. The military proof is faint but still visible between the belt loops. The holster has great condition leather that’s strong with minimal pliability. Some light surface wrinkling and cracking on the surface of the closure strap, but the strap is still completely intact and secure. There are a few loose stitches on the closure strap as well, but the rest of the stitching is excellent. All original and authentic.
