4/27/23 – This is a very nice example of a Winchester M1 Garand. The serial number on the receiver dates it to about March of 1943. The barrel is a replacement, Springfield marked and dated April of 1946. The stock is “P” proofed, has a DOD stamp, and appears to have a “A.N.” arsenal marking. There are stickers on either side of the butt stock. There is a repaired crack on the right side of the stock, around the wrist. The metal parts have retained roughly 90% of their finish. The majority of the wear is around the muzzle and along the gas tube. Minor wear on the high edges in general. Besides the crack, the stock is minty. However, the handguards are more beat-up. The bore has good rifling, but there is minor pin-pricking in the grooves. Muzzle reading: 4. Throat reading: 5.
