11/18/22 – This is a nice example of a Springfield M1 Garand originally issued to the US military in 1943. The barrel was later replaced and is dated May of 1952. Import on the left side of the barrel. Overall, the metal parts have retained about 94-95% of their parkerized finish. There is not a lot of actual finish loss, but there are light scuffs along the barrel, along the gas, an on the receiver (especially on the left side). Minor wear and brown patina on the trigger guard. Noticeable brown patina on the butt plate. The condition of the upper and front hand guards do not match the stock. There is noticeable bruising on both. The stock is in much nicer condition but appears to have been sanded. There is what appears to be a faint rack number on the right side of the butt stock. The bore has good rifling with minor pin-pricking throughout. Throat reading: 3. Muzzle reading: 8.
