12/3/21 – This is a very nice example of a Mauser P.38 issued to the Nazi military in 1943. It is all matching and has the proper “Eagle 135” Nazi military acceptance proofs throughout. It comes as a rig with a nice 1941-dated waffen-proofed holster and a period-correct Mauser magazine. The names “Ardry Tomassone” are scratched into the leather of the holster in a few places. The seller was able to find some information about this vet, Umbert Tomassone. This information includes his honorable discharge, a summary of his military career, and what looks like a tag that was originally on the gun when it was brought home. Photocopies of these documents are included. The gun has retained roughly 85% of its original bluing. The majority of the finish loss is on the front strap and the barrel. But there are also areas of minor wear on the high edges of the slide and around the muzzle. There are a few very light scratches/handling marks on the right side of the slide. Comes with excellent period-correct reddish grips. The bore is shiny with strong rifling, but there are areas of freckling throughout. De-cocker is functional.
