1/18/23 – This is a very nice example of a BCD 43 Gustloff Werke K98 rifle issued to the Nazi military in 1943. It has the proper military proofs throughout and all matching. However, we believe the barrel band spring was replaced, because the rear barrel band fits a little loose (the band spring seems a tad too short). The “bcd” and “43” markings on the receiver are faint, but it doesn’t appear to have been buffed, so possibly an old reblue. Both the handguard and stock are numbered internally and match the gun. Overall, the metal parts have retained about 80% of their finish with some thinning around the receiver. While there isn’t much actual finish loss, there is light spotty oxidation on most of the metal parts. The stock shows signs of use, but there is no major damage. There is a tiny chip in the wood just behind the action. The bore is mint.
