6/7/23 – This is a very nice example of a Colt Model 1911A1 from 1943. According to the included Colt Factory letter, it was delivered to a Transportation Officer at the Springfield Armory on March 9, 1943, along with 3,800 other guns. The slide is numbered and matches the frame. Proper Colt barrel with a large “G” under the lug. It is “United States Property” marked, has a cross-canon cartouche, and has the proper “GHD” inspector initials. The entire gun has been refinished and has retained most of its new bluing. There are areas of very light freckling here and there and some minor discoloration along both sides of the slide. Fitted with nice period-correct reddish plastic grips and comes with one magazine. The bore has good rifling, but there is minor pin-pricking throughout.
