12/5/22 – This is an original 1942 dated holster for a 7.65mm Sauer pistol such as the model 38h. The holster is waffen military proof stamped on the closure strap, maker coded and date stamped under the closure strap, and ink stamped on the interior leather, “Sauer 7,65”. The ink stamp is faint, so only the “Sauer” portion of the stamp is visible (we see the “Sau” and part of the “H” underneath). Oddly, there’s a number stamp “0886 M (or W)” on the back leather. We’re not sure the significance of this marking, perhaps a unit stamp of some sort. The leather is soft and pliable with honest wear throughout. There’s a spot of surface leather that’s peeled off on the front leather, as shown. The leather is still completely intact. All original stitching intact as well.
