9/17/24 – This is a rare NSKK Pistol Shooting Prize Award from 1942. The badge is two piece construction with a steel base and front-affixed zinc NSKK eagle logo. The eagle has lost almost all of the gold wash finish, but traces of gold color are found on the wreath and swastika. The badge measures 4.5cm in diameter with white and black enamel paint on a central target. The outer rim has embossed writing and an aged finish with natural patina. The top of the badge indicates the event as “Pistole”, and the NSKK Gruppe, “Motorgruppe Oberdonau” is specified at the bottom of the rim. The reverse shows natural patina with a fair amount of gold colored finish remaining and a horizontal pinback soldered in place. The excessive solder suggests this was repaired at some point in history, but the condition is congruent with the rest of the pin which confirms this is all original. The base of the pin has a worn maker marking, which is hard to decipher, but the upper portion of writing appears to be, “C. Poellath”. A great addition for NSKK and SA Gruppe collectors, and pairs perfectly with NSKK PP or shooter prize pistols.
