10/20/22 – This is a Lithgow SMLE Mk III* Rifle, manufactured in 1942. The gun is all matching but has an import mark on the left side of the receiver. The numbering on the stock is extremely faint and illegible – the stock appears to have been sanded. The entire gun has what appears to be a dark arsenal-refurbished finish. “FTR” marking on the receiver. There is wear around the muzzle and high edges in general. Significant finish loss on the magazine. The stock is nice, but there is a wood repair in the butt stock, up against the butt plate. Nice bore with good rifling. There are some areas around the receiver where thick grease has collected – would benefit from a good cleaning.
