7/1/20 – This is an original 1941 dated K98 bayonet with a matching numbered scabbard, and a black leather frog. The bayonet blade is excellent, with a maker code and date on one side, then the serial number 1171g on the other side. Some light finish loss near the tip of the blade, but overall excellent finish. The metal hand guard and pommel have some dark discoloration / patina throughout. No cracks in the bakelite grip. The scabbard is serial number matching, and has some very minor dents near the tip. The end is properly waffen proof stamped. The finish on the scabbard is mostly gone, and there’s significant dark patina. No active rust though. The frog is unmarked and in great shape.
