3/2/21 – This is an excellent example of a Mauser K98 issued to the Nazi military in 1940. This one is kitted out with a short side scope rail, scope mount, sniper-style safety lever, and a K. Kahles Wien H/6×49 sniper scope. The gun is all matching, including the stock. There are waffen proofs throughout including on the wrist and butt of the stock. Comes with original cleaning rod. The gun is fully functional and the action is smooth. The barrel bands have a parkerized finish, so may have been refinished. The stock looks like it was duffle-cut but has since been repaired. We believe the scope rail, mount, and safety lever are modern reproductions but work with the scope perfectly. The scope has very nice optics with just a hint of cloudiness. There is a piece of black tape near the front lens. The gun itself has retained the majority of its finish – just some minor handling marks and minor wear around the high edges of the receiver. Excellent stock with visible markings. The bore is excellent – shiny with strong rifling.
