4/7/23 – This 1940 dated Mauser Luger is all original and has the rare, reddish Krieghoff grips on it. The book on Mauser Lugers indicates that a very small set of 1940 lugers have these grips on them from the factory. It is assumed that they experimented with the HK grips as an option before they started making their own black plastic grips. Page 210 of the book indicates that these grips are found in the G to K blocks, so the H block is right in the middle of this group of 1940 Lugers. The guns original finish is about 94% with areas of minor wear on the side plate, side rails, around the muzzle, left side of the barrel, and base of the front strap. Just a hint of thinning and a few tiny dots of oxidation on the back strap. Comes with a mismatched “Eagle 63” marked magazine. Very nice bore with strong rifling and some light pin-pricking here and there.
