7/12/18 – This is a 1939 WWII French MLE Model 1936 bolt action MAS Rifle in 7.5 x 54mm caliber. Excellent condition, still in original wartime finish and configuration, not postwar overhauled. Rifle is not import marked. 1939 dated stock cartouche with proper French WWII leather sling installed, leather is completely supple. Rifle shows all matching serial numbers including receiver, bolt, buttstock, triggerguard, floorplate, and the forward mounted spike bayonet which stores in a tube under the barrel. Forend wood and handguard are correctly unnumbered. Original WWII finish on both metal and stock with some normal handling marks. Metal finish is original WWII black showing some use wear. Bore is excellent with strong rifling. A super example of a scarce, all matching wartime Model 1936 French MAS. This rifle would have been there during the fall of France in 1940 and was likely a US Vet bring back after WWII. Excellent, complete and 100% matching.
