8/18/22 – This is a very nice example of a Berlin Lubecker K98 rifle made in 1939 with a scarce “237” factory code. The rifle is mismatched, the bolt matches itself but is mismatched to the receiver. Other numbered small parts are numbered and matching to the receiver including both barrel bands, rear sight assembly, barrel, trigger guard assembly, floor plate, and butt plate. There are proper military acceptance proofs throughout. The original blued finish is in very nice condition overall. The finish on the trigger guard and floorplate are virtually gone but most of the finish in the receiver, barrel assembly, and bolt is intact. There is light patina throughout the metal as well as minor signs of handling wear and thinning/finish loss. The wooden stock is in very nice condition showing only minor handling wear throughout other than a few dings here and there. The stock is numbered and matches the receiver. The action is smooth and functional. The bore shows strong rifling but light frost throughout.
