11/2/22 – This is a nice, mostly matching Nazi K98 made by Mauser in 1938. The rifle has all matching numbered parts aside from the bolt assembly. This includes the stock, bands, buttplate, rear sight assembly and trigger assembly. The bluing is original with minor wear on the receiver, some oxidation on the barrel, and notable patina/thinning on the trigger assembly. This rifle also has SS runes etched in the left side of the barrel and receiver, as well as a marking that reads ’32PZGN/1′. These markings are clearly hand-done, and likely postwar but not sure the exact significance or when. The bore has strong rifling with only minor frost. Comes with an original sling and cleaning rod. The top of the wrist of the stock has a chip and a surface crack, which are shown in photos.
