4/1/22 – This is an excellent example of an early Mauser K98 issued to the Nazi military in 1937. It has the proper waffen military acceptance proofs throughout and has an “S/42” Mauser factory code on the receiver. The gun is almost entirely matching, but the bolt assembly and upper piece of the rear sight are mismatched. Front barrel band is un-numbered. The stock is numbered and matching and has the proper waffen military acceptance proofs. There is also a “110” rack number on the underside of the stock. A “Germany” export marking on the trigger assembly. Comes with an un-numbered cleaning rod and a period-correct leather sling. The gun has retained most of its finish. There is noticeable thinning and some scratches on the underside of the trigger guard. Some light scratches / handling marks here and there along the barrel. Brown patina on the rear barrel band. The bore has good rifling, but there are tiny pits in the grooves.
